Today (Nov 16), Karthi’s Pa Renjith directed Studio Green produced Madras celebrates 50 days. The film has been raved by the critics and has worked at the box-office.
Madras is a great comeback for Karthi as an actor of substance. It is his best film after his debut Paruthiveeran. There was a certain amount of rawness and realism in the character he portrayed in the film. He lives the role of Kaali, a North Madras based IT professional who is seething inside.
The film was also a box-office hit. Karthi’s after series of failures has bounced back with the character driven role. It proves that all he needs is good directors and a powerful script to shine on screen. He should not be doing mindless masala films, which is not able to exploit the actor in him.
After regaining his box-office clout, Karthi’s next release will be Komban directed by M Muthaiah. In the film he is pitted opposite Raj Kiran who plays his father-in-law, with Lakshmi Menon playing the heroine. The shoot of the film is complete and it will release in December/January.
