Actor Madhavan’s Tamil-Hindi bilingual, directed by Sudha K Prasad, will have two real-life boxing professionals as the female leads. The film, produced by S Sashikanth, is titled Irudhi Sutru in Tamil.
“Maddy plays a boxing coach. He has been toning his physique for this role in Los Angeles for the past few months. It is a totally different avatar for Madhavan and a second coming for him as an actor. We have roped in professional boxers from aboxing academy to play the two female leads — Ritika Singh and Mumtaz Sorcar, who comes from a family of popular magicians. She is from Kolkata and has done films in Bengali,” Sashikanth reveals.
He adds that more than being an out-and-out sports film, this will be a gritty human drama set in the world of boxing, and will be vastly different in tone from the Mary Kom biopic which stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead.
The shoot for this film will commence from August 11, and will be set in Chennai even in its Hindi version. “People in the north are only used to films like Chennai Express set in the south, but this one will present the real flavour of Chennai to them,” he says. Santhosh Narayanan has been roped in to compose the music and this will be his first project in Bollywood. We hear that he will be recording the songs in Australia with a live orchestra.
