Un Samayal Arayil is a trilingual film starring Prakash Raj and Sneha in the lead roles. New comers Tejas and Samyuktha Hornad are introduced in this film as well. It also features veteran actors Urvashi and S.P.Balasubramaniam in supporting roles. Music for the film is composed by Maestro Ilayaraja.
The album begins with vigor courtesy of the energetic Kaliash Kher. The song has a wonderful Hindustani flavor blended with Modern Jazz orchestration and a special mention for lyrics by Palani Bharathi is deserved. Except for the diction of Kailash Kher, the composition is near flawless in all respects.

After a funky opening track, it is time for a lilting melody sung by Ranjith and Vibhavari. The trademark bass work of Ilayaraja is quite evident throughout the composition. The rhythm is groovy yet mellowed. The interludes are convincingly woven with strings, flute and a laid back rhythm. While Ranjith sings his best, Vibhavari does her bit to compliment such a fine composition.

The Maestro’s melody extravaganza continues with an out of the world guitar prelude which launches to a groovy composition sung well by Ramya. The orchestration is fantastic with dreamy electric guitars, rhythm section and stirring interludes. The saxophone touch in the first interlude is a defining essence of Maestro Ilayaraja’s compositions. Karthik joins Ramya with fantastic ease and makes this track a highlight of the album.
The album enters its finale with an emotional solo sung by the Maestro himself. The uplifting string section and guitars make for pleasant listening. The sadness is beautifully presented with the music and the great lyrics add to the value of the composition.
